Becky Wasserman & Co.’s 2027 BIMPOC Symposium

Becky Wasserman was a community leader. For over 40 years, she was one of the most influential wine exporters. She was interested in wines that were intentional and singular. She entrusted her growers– domaines like Michel Lafarge, Denis Bachelet, and Frédéric Mugnier– who have been with her since the beginning. Becky believed that wine fulfills the desire to connect beyond the bottle. It is one thing to taste a wine on its own and understand its muse, but it is not its only destination. Wine has always been a part of society, just like the array of cultures and identities that shape our world.

The entire team at Becky Wasserman & Co. feels passionately about advocating for communities that are not represented in the room, as many BIMPOC (Black, Indigenous, Multiracial, People of Color) American wine professionals continue to strive for advancement. All her life, Becky Wasserman fought for racial and gender equity. Those who identify as BIMPOC are undoubtedly underrepresented in the wine trade.

We believe that walking the vineyards, seeing the cellars, and meeting the people behind the wines is where the foundation of community engagement begins. Building on the invaluable source of inspiration and connection with our vigneron(ne)s, we created the Becky Wasserman & Co. BIMPOC Symposium to provide accessible opportunities for motivated and curious candidates.

We will select four BIMPOC wine professionals based in the United States of America to be a part of a cohort that will travel, live, and engage in a week of learning with various vigneron(ne)s across Burgundy.

We invite interested applicants to apply using the link below and share this opportunity with anyone who may be a good fit.
