- Viticulture: Sustainable, organic practices, 7,000 vines/ha, 2 m+ high palissage, plowed by horse due to the slope, cover crop with every second row left grassed over, vines replaced with massale selections.
- Vinification: Crushed and pressed with whole clusters in a vertical oak press, ambient yeast fermentation and aging for 24 months on the lees in 228 and 456 L barrels, racked and aged for an additional 6 months in stainless steel, no fining or filtration, SO2 added during racking and/or before bottling.
Additional Info
‘1938’ refers not only to the plantation date, but is also an homage to his grandfather who was born that year. A renowned cru of Pupillin dating back to before 1810. This parcel is located just above the parcel of Chardonnay. It was planted by Benjamin’s great-grandparents & tended solo by his great-grandmother Blanche for five years while her husband, Stephane, was held prisoner of war during WW2.
